Girls Night In...

I am by no m
eans a writer, so I will try my best to describe the beautiful event one my best and oldest friends, Emily Dosman, put together for breast cancer awareness.

People walked in to a beautifully decorated room, at the K-W Granite Club in Waterloo. Emily was joined by over a hundred women and even a few males at her girls night in fundraiser. Everyone started the night off socializing with one another and listening to the sounds of Jesse Webber. Then came time for a delicious meal, while two amazing and strong women shared their story about surviving breast cancer. I wish I could begin to describe how amazing these stories were. These women are so powerful and strong, we were very lucky to hear them speak, everyone was touched. Following our delicious meal we had the raffle draw, many companies helped out by donating prizes for the cause.

The MC of the evening, Colleen Cooper, expressed how amazing it is to have someone as young as Emily (age 21) take initiative in putting together an event for breast cancer and gives "older" women hope for a cure. Emily gives all women hope for a cure. After hearing Cynthia's story about battling breast cancer in her final year of law school, in her mid-twenties, you realize women can get breast cancer at any age.

Emily raised over $2000 that evening!!!

Emily Dosman you are an Angel on Earth. You have a heart of gold and you are over all amazing.

Love ya girl. xo

Exploring the Use of Type

This is the first typography project I have ever done. I hated type and everything about it. Once you learn the impact that just a type face alone has on the presentation of an Ad, you learn to love it.

In the Rolls Royce ad, the demographic is most likely an older male who has a very
large income. Since we could only use type for this project I decided to use a very "classic" font, since Rolls Royce is viewed in a high class category. The headline reads "The loudest noise in a Rolls Royce is the ticking on the clock," since this is emphasizing that Rolls Royce is a very quiet car, I used the arrangement and size of the typeface to help emphasize this point.

The Bubba's BBQ ad, the demographic is a family. The headline is very cheeky and humorous, the most important words are "babe" and "hungry" therefore need to stand out the most. I used the font that the actual Babe movie used to quickly get the point across, since the font is related. I used a very bold font for the word "hungry" to create that feeling people get when they are REALLY hungry. As well, used the really large "?" to emphasize the hunger.

Rule: Try to avoid using more then 3 different typefaces in an ad.

The Health Canada ad is a very informational ad, the demographic is targeted towards teachers, parents, and people that are concerned with their health. Since the ad is very informational the way the type is positioned and the typeface I chose is suppose to create the feel of an important document, to create the importance of covering your food. The white space assists in creating the importance by leading your eye directly to the middle, which then leads you through the ad.

Even in the Heart of the city....

Even in the heart of the city, past all the high rises, you can enjoy the experience of a beautiful sunset.
